Recently, CATL has made a big move. 50.9 billion invested in the European market!
On August 12, CATL announced that the company plans to invest in the construction of a new energy battery industrial base project in Debrecen, Hungary, with a total investment of no more than 7.34 billion euros (equivalent to 50.9 billion yuan). The construction content is a 100GWh power battery system production line, which will start construction in 2022.
Once built, it will be Europe's largest battery "super factory" to date. This is also the second factory built by CATL in Europe after the German factory.
At present, CATL has ten production bases in the world, and only one overseas in Thuringia, Germany.
The factory started construction on October 18, 2019, with a planned production capacity of 14GWh. It has obtained a production license for 8GWH cells and is currently in the equipment installation stage. The first batch of cells will be off the assembly line by the end of 2022.
It is not only CATL who are eyeing the "big cake" of the European power battery market, but also them.
According to a report released by South Korean market research agency SNE Research, from January to June 2022, the global installed capacity of power batteries will reach 202GWh, a significant increase of 75.65% compared with 115GWh in the same period last year.

Envision AESC
On July 18, Envision Technology Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Spanish government to build the first zero-carbon industrial park in continental Europe in Spain and will deploy power battery super factories and other businesses.
So far, Vision has 11 major production bases in China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Spain, and the total production capacity of zero-carbon batteries will exceed 300GWh by 2026.
Gotion High-Tech
On June 27, Guoxuan Hi-Tech held the unveiling ceremony of Guoxuan Germany at its Göttingen base in Germany. The planned production capacity of the base is 20GWh, officially opening the pace of "Made in Europe" for Guoxuan Battery.
According to the plan, the project is divided into two phases: a brownfield factory and a greenfield factory. The first phase of the brownfield factory has been transformed, and it is expected that 5GWh will be put into operation before the end of this year. The project will be fully put into production in 2025 and is expected to achieve an annual production capacity target of 20GWh.
EVE Lithium Energy
At the end of March this year, Yiwei Lithium Energy signed a letter of intent with a subsidiary of the Hungarian Debrecen Municipal Government, intending to purchase the target real estate from it and build a power battery factory in Hungary.
